4 – Boundary Stone No. 25

The Franco-Spanish border extends over 623 kilometres, from South-West France to North-East Spain, and is the longest land border in metropolitan France, even exceeding that shared with Belgium (620 km).

Listen to the soundtrack :

The border is marked by 602 boundary stones numbered from West to East.

Boundary Stone No. 1 is located on the banks of the Bidassoa, approximately 8.5 km upstream of the railway bridge between Hendaye and Irun, at the location where the borders no longer follow the river but curve towards the East.

Boundary Stone No. 602 is marked by a cross located on the slopes of Cap Cerbère which dominates the Mediterranean Sea between the communities of Portbou and Cerbère.

Here, at the summit, we encounter 3 landmarks numbered from 24 to 26.
